Our work with the Public Sector
ADHD Now is a specialist-led service that provides services to the HSE in some areas. That covers specific arrangements rather than a general endorsement of everything we do. Several of our clinicians have held senior public-sector roles.
Our Clinical Director, Dr Vishnu Pradeep, completed his postgraduate psychiatry training in Ireland with the HSE and has held senior lecturing positions in psychiatry at both Trinity and UCD medical schools. Our Child Services Lead and Senior Clinical Nurse Specialist, Mary Horgan, has led one of Scotland's largest CAMHS ADHD services within the NHS. Dr Anne-Frédérique Naviaux, Consultant Psychiatrist, has worked as a clinical lead for the HSE Regional Adult ADHD Service for Dublin and the South East, where she is involved in developing the regional specialist service. A majority of our psychiatrists, nurses and psychologists have spent significant parts of their careers in HSE or NHS adult and CAMHS services.
This matters for a simple reason: the clinicians assessing you are the same clinicians who work, or have worked, inside the public services your report may eventually be shared with.

What DSM-5 alignment means in practice
ADHD Now assesses against the diagnostic criteria set out in DSM-5. A diagnosis requires evidence of symptoms in two or more settings, onset before age 12, and clinically significant impairment in everyday functioning. Meeting one of those conditions is not enough; all of them must be established before a diagnosis is made.
To establish them, our clinicians use validated instruments rather than conversation alone, including the Adult ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS v1.1), the Wender Utah Rating Scale (WURS-25), the Weiss Symptom Record across 19 life domains, and the Diagnostic Interview for ADHD in Adults (DIVA-5). Our approach also follows the principles set out in the NICE guideline on ADHD diagnosis and management, and our service design is built in line with the HSE's Adult ADHD National Clinical Programme. Child assessments are multidisciplinary, involving two or more clinicians, and follow best-practice NICE and HSE guidelines.
A report is only useful if the person receiving it can act on it. Our reports are consultant-led, follow DSM-5 criteria and are produced by clinicians on the Irish Medical Council register or registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland. They are prepared to support ongoing healthcare, educational applications and workplace accommodations, subject in every case to the receiving organisation's own requirements.

Two things worth being clear about. RACE and DARE eligibility is decided independently, by the State Examinations Commission and the DARE scheme respectively, against their own published criteria and deadlines. Schools can explain the current RACE requirements; see the DARE scheme’s current eligibility guidance for college applications. An ADHD diagnosis or report may support an application; it does not itself guarantee exam accommodations, DARE eligibility or a college offer. Equally, whether your GP takes over prescribing after titration is their clinical decision, made in line with their own judgement and local shared-care arrangements. Our report is written to support that decision, not to replace it.
Reports can support applications for school, exam and workplace accommodations; the receiving organisation decides eligibility.

Consultant psychiatrists, clinical psychologists, nurse prescribers, psychotherapists and care coordinators. Every clinical role is held by a named, registered individual whose registration number is published.
Registration and specialist training
These are not all the same kind of credential, and it is worth being precise about which is which. Our doctors and nurses are registered with their relevant statutory regulators: consultant psychiatrists and doctors with the Irish Medical Council (IMC), several also on the UK General Medical Council (GMC) specialist register, and nurse prescribers with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Our psychologists are registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI), and our psychotherapists hold professional accreditation with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). Statutory registration and professional accreditation are different things; both are verifiable independently of anything we say.
Separately from registration, our clinicians undertake specialist training. ADHD Now engages the UK Adult ADHD Network (UKAAN) on a yearly basis to train clinicians across the service. UKAAN is a specialist training and professional network for adult ADHD practice, not a regulator, and completing its training is a continuing professional development credential rather than a licence to practise. It is specific to adult ADHD rather than general psychiatry.
Each clinician's registration number can be produced on request, so you can check it against the relevant public register before you book. Every clinician working within ADHD Now is vetted by management and has extensive experience in ADHD within their speciality, whether that is psychology, psychiatry, nursing or psychotherapy.

IMCIrish Medical Council
The statutory regulator for every doctor practising in Ireland. Registration is a legal requirement, and the specialist register is a further tier confirming a doctor has completed consultant-level training in their specialty. Our consultant psychiatrists are on it.
The professional body for psychologists in Ireland. PSI chartered membership recognises professional qualifications and experience assessed against its criteria. Chartered status is distinct from statutory registration; you can check an individual psychologist through PSI.
The statutory regulator for nurses and midwives in Ireland. Relevant here because nurse prescribers hold a separate registered prescribing qualification, which is what allows a clinical nurse specialist to manage ADHD medication alongside a consultant.
IACPIrish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy
A professional and accrediting body for counsellors and psychotherapists in Ireland. IACP accreditation is distinct from statutory registration and includes professional standards, supervision and continuing professional development.
The UK equivalent of the IMC. Several of our consultants hold dual registration and sit on the GMC specialist register as well as the Irish one, which reflects consultant-level training recognised in two jurisdictions.
UKAAN is the UK Adult ADHD Network, a specialist professional and training network for adult ADHD. It is not a statutory regulator. UKAAN training is continuing professional development and does not replace statutory registration or professional accreditation.

Children and adolescents: ADHD Now compared with the CAMHS pathway
For children and adolescents, CAMHS is a specialist mental health service for under-18s who meet its referral criteria. A GP or another health or social care professional can discuss the appropriate local pathway. A Children’s Disability Network Team supports children with complex needs associated with disability. Dyslexia, dysgraphia and attention issues may require different or additional assessments; they do not by themselves determine a CAMHS or disability-service referral.

When online assessment is clinically appropriate
Adult ADHD assessment can be conducted entirely online via secure video consultation. Online assessment can be clinically appropriate when it is conducted through a comprehensive specialist pathway, with suitability considered individually for each person. The pathway combines clinical interviews, validated rating scales and relevant supporting information. Online appointments remove travel to a clinic; the time needed for appointments depends on your care plan.
Our child and adolescent pathway is delivered online when clinically appropriate. A parent or guardian takes part throughout, and the assessment may draw on school observations and teacher questionnaires. Where a child has co-occurring difficulties such as dyslexia, dysgraphia or broader attention and learning issues, our clinicians will say so in the report and set out what further assessment may help.
Where a clinician judges that remote assessment is not appropriate for an individual, because of complexity, risk, or the need for direct observation, we will tell you and talk through the alternatives rather than proceed regardless.
Secure video appointments take place in a private space, with suitability considered individually.
We would rather tell you before you pay than after. ADHD Now is not the right service for everyone. Answer four questions and we will tell you honestly, including when the answer is no.
Our booking terms ask you to confirm several things before an appointment is made, and they exist for good clinical reasons. You should not book with us if:
You are in crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts. We are not an emergency or crisis service and cannot respond at the speed you need.
You have active alcohol or substance dependence. Stimulant prescribing is not safe alongside untreated dependence. Addiction support should come first; we can assess afterwards.
You are not able to take part in an online appointment. Our assessments are delivered by secure video, so you need a private space and a device with a camera.
You want a guaranteed diagnosis. We assess; we do not confirm on request. A meaningful proportion of people who access our service receive the conclusion that the criteria are not met, and that outcome is a legitimate result, not a failed one.
Cost is the deciding factor and you are able to wait. The public route is free. If waiting is genuinely workable for you, take it.

Who oversees your care
Dr Vishnu Pradeep, our Clinical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist (IMC 406626), is responsible for clinical quality, safety and effectiveness across the organisation, and leads on clinical governance, service design and care pathways. He is dual-certified in Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry, a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in both Ireland and the UK, and has over fifteen years of experience across the public and private sectors in Ireland.
Psychological assessment is led by Dr Shane Wolson, Chartered Principal Psychologist (PSI M12177C). Therapy services are led by Ciarán Coyle (IACP M13349). Dr Ian Groeber is the Lead Consultant Psychiatrist in our Northern Ireland service (GMC 7285613).
How Our Service is Audited
Our service receives regular independent quality assurance, risk and audit services from HCI, an external healthcare quality-assurance and audit provider.
Internally, every diagnostic report is reviewed against our required standards before it is issued and all our clinicians are supervised under a clinical governance structure.
Our safeguarding and escalation procedures
Because we assess children and young people, safeguarding is a standing obligation rather than an optional policy. Where an assessment identifies risk to a patient's safety, or to a child's welfare, our clinicians escalate rather than close the file.
How to raise a concern or make a complaint
Complaints are handled by a named member of our team rather than a shared inbox. Our Customer Care and Scheduling Manager oversees complaint resolution across our psychology, psychiatry and therapy services, and escalates to Joseph Mhanna, our Head of Operations, and to the clinical team as required.

An ADHD assessment produces some of the most sensitive information about you that exists. You are entitled to know where it goes.
Where your clinical records are stored
Your records are held in our secure clinical management system and processed under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018. Health data is "special category" data under GDPR, which places stricter obligations on us than ordinary personal data does.
What we share with your GP, and what we don't
With your consent, we can send your report to your GP to support ongoing care. Whether your GP agrees to prescribe after titration or enter a shared-care arrangement remains their individual clinical decision. When appropriate, clinical correspondence is sent through Healthmail, the HSE's secure clinical email service, at adhdnow@healthmail.ie. Healthmail is the standard secure channel between Irish healthcare providers and is not ordinary email.
We do not share your clinical information with your employer, your school or your insurer. If you need a report for any of those purposes, it is issued to you, and you decide who sees it. You are in control of who your data is shared with outside of ADHD Now.

Is ADHD Now a regulated healthcare provider in Ireland?
Our doctors and nurses are registered with their relevant statutory regulators: the Irish Medical Council or UK General Medical Council, as applicable, and NMBI for nurses. Our psychologists are registered with the Psychological Society of Ireland, and our psychotherapists hold relevant professional accreditation with IACP. These are different forms of professional accountability. UKAAN provides specialist training, not statutory registration. Details of each clinician’s credentials are available so you can check them with the relevant body.
In addition, our service receives regular independent quality assurance, risk and audit services from HCI, an external healthcare quality-assurance and audit provider. We hold clinical governance responsibility through a named Clinical Director, Dr Vishnu Pradeep (IMC 406626).

Are ADHD Now's assessments aligned with NICE and HSE guidelines?
Yes. Our assessments apply DSM-5 diagnostic criteria and follow the principles set out in the NICE guideline on ADHD diagnosis and management and the HSE's Adult ADHD National Clinical Programme. In practice this means we require evidence of symptoms across two or more settings, onset before age 12, and clinically significant functional impairment, established using validated instruments including ASRS v1.1, WURS-25, the Weiss Symptom Record and DIVA-5.
How is ADHD Now connected to the HSE and the Government of Ireland?
ADHD Now provides services to the HSE in certain areas of the public sector, and we sit on the ADHD Working Group led by Barry Heneghan TD in Leinster House. These are specific arrangements for specific services. They are not a general endorsement of ADHD Now by the HSE, and no part of the public system has approved or accredited our services as a whole.
Some of these arrangements sit with our sister service, AutismCare. AutismCare is on the approved national panel for autism assessment services that the HSE can contract, and it holds service level agreements covering Assessment of Need, Children’s Disability Network Team and Primary Care work.
Separately, a number of our clinicians have held senior HSE posts. Dr Anne-Frédérique Naviaux was appointed in early 2026 as Clinical Lead Consultant Psychiatrist to the HSE Regional Adult ADHD Service for Dublin and the South East, and our Clinical Director Dr Vishnu Pradeep worked within the HSE for many years. Most of our staff have served the public health system for considerable periods in both Ireland and the UK.
What happens to my medical records with a private ADHD clinic?
Your records are held by ADHD Now and processed under the EU General Data Protection Regulation and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, which treat health information as special category data. Nothing is shared with your GP, employer, school or insurer without your consent. Where you ask us to write to your GP, we do so through Healthmail, the HSE's secure clinical email service.
You have the right to request a copy of your records at any time.
Is ADHD Now an online service?
Yes. Assessments, psychiatry and therapy appointments are delivered online by secure video, anywhere in Ireland. There is nowhere you need to travel to.
Online assessment can be clinically appropriate when it is conducted through a comprehensive specialist pathway, with suitability considered individually. Our pathway uses clinical interviews, validated rating scales and relevant supporting information. If online assessment is not appropriate for you, we will discuss alternatives.
What registration, accreditation and training do our clinicians hold?
Our doctors hold statutory registration with the Irish Medical Council (IMC) or General Medical Council (GMC), as applicable, and our nurses are registered with NMBI. Our psychologists are registered with PSI, and our psychotherapists hold IACP professional accreditation. Separately, clinicians undertake specialist UKAAN training annually. UKAAN is an adult ADHD training and professional network, not a regulator.

Who is ADHD Now not suitable for?
We are not a crisis or emergency service. You should not book with us if you are in crisis or experiencing suicidal thoughts. Contact your GP, your nearest emergency department, or call 112 or 999. We also cannot safely assess or prescribe where there is active alcohol or substance dependence; that needs to be addressed first.
We are also not the right choice if cost is your deciding factor and you are genuinely able to wait, or if you are looking for a guaranteed diagnosis. Assessments sometimes conclude that ADHD criteria are not met.
